Literal seas of naked bodies storm the streets of Mexico City dancing and shouting, desecrating that year’s corrupt politicians. After surviving the Mexican colonial project and it’s legacies, what is left with to fight but your own flesh? Dispossession of land, resources, and infrastructure is often obscured by the resilience and resourcefulness of Indigenous communities. Indigenous farmers in Veracruz are challenged to convince the Mexican public that there is a problem with specific people and policies to blame. Then, maybe their demands for material change can be realized. Since 2014, man, womxn, and child unite to march the 300+ kilometers from their home pueblo in Veracruz to Mexico city naked/semi-naked wearing farmer’s sombreros. When there, many will occupy parks and sidewalks for months. With still no substantial response from the state, there is no indication that the annual liberation protest will stop.
