Take a Seat, Make a Friend

How much time do you spend time talking, really talking, to a random stranger on the street? SoulPancake, a media company based out of Los Angeles and New York, creates eye-catching interactive attractions in urban pedestrian-populated spaces in order to bring people together and create dialogue. These so-called Street Stunts range in form, the most popular being Take a Seat, Make a Friend in which two people who are strangers to each other are invited into a ball pit. There are philosophical questions written on the balls and the idea is that the participants stay in the pit as long as they choose, so long as they are discussing something together. SoulPancake videotapes the results of these interactions and uploads them to YouTube to spread their message that only good can come of people engaging with each other and discussing life’s big questions, something we don’t do nearly enough already.
