Vietnamese folk stories are projected throughout a square in Russia, where most people listening don’t understand what is being said. In this situation, only those who speak Vietnamese and understand the cultural history can find a true appreciation for what is being projected. This piece disunites people, but in a critical way of giving a voice and creating a place for an ethnic minority with the majority. In the end, Hannings strives to create a more heterogeneous community rather than a singular homogenous one where the majority dominates the minority.
