One Two Three Swing! rejects art museums as places for serious, solitary thought. Instead, One Two Three Swing! encourages participants to play, erecting giant swings which seat up to three people in the common area of the Tate Modern. SUPERFLEX is a critique on the seriousness of art museums. It makes room for play in a stereotypically serious environment, encouraging participants to create a new, utopian reality to play in. In this way, SUPERFLEX asks participants to leave their own headspace and to interact with others in a utopian reality of their own making, fostering interpersonal relations. Further, in swinging together, participants are doing something that is not useful, with no goal. They escape the neoliberal conception of productivity that seems to rule the world (and our lives), rebuking the solitary seriousness of the world, and revelling in interaction and play.
